Description

Julian of Norwich was a 14th century medieval mystic and the first known woman to write in Middle English. She lived in a cell attached to a church in Norwich England, where she served as spiritual guide to all who came to her window. Her wisdom and her writings, “Revelations of Divine Love,” have proven to be inspiring and relevant to our times.

Playwright J. Janda wrote the one woman drama Julian,  which brings to life the times and profound insights of Julian. Linda C. Loving has performed this drama for over twenty-six years in the US and England. In 2006 she filmed the play in Julian’s reconstructed cell in Norwich and made the DVD available for distribution internationally. The DVD also includes interviews with Julian scholars. Watch a clip of Linda’s performance below:

In the midst of the chaos of the Middle Ages, war, famine, plague, church schism and economic upheaval, Julian experienced visions from God which led her to write these famous words:

“All shall be well

and all shall be well

and all manner of thing shall be well.”

Ms. Loving is also available for live performances when pandemic guidelines are relaxed.
