For this first Devotion on this new website, I turn to the Spirited Voice of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin SJ:

“Only God could say what this new Spirit gradually forming within you will be. Give our Lord the benefit of believing that God’s own hand is leading you, and accept the anxiety of feeling yourself in suspense and incomplete.”

What a beautiful reframing of the free floating anxiety we so often carry! What a lovely invitation to befriend our anxiety and uncertainty as a part of our “becoming”; as part of our unfinished selves while our spirits continue to grow into the wholeness intended by the Holy.
There is so much pressure to present ourselves as finished products on Facebook and in dossiers and through LinkedIn and class updates in Alumni publications. Yet we are incomplete all our days and this spiritual understanding flies in the face of establishing such polished personas.
How freeing it is to view life filled with suspense as we see where God’s own hand leads us! We love a good mystery…so lean into Mystery! Marvel at your own incompleteness and wonder at how your own story will turn out by the grace of God. Embrace the uncertainty and anxiety this naturally holds as you live your Holy Who Dunnit, open to surprises all along the way.
